If you like to experiment with coffee to achieve different aromas and flavors, you will love CBE, the coffee brewing new system.
Before sharing the benefits of CBE, we would like to thank you for all your contributions. Many of the improvements to the product come from the ideas and experiences you share with us.
To better understand CBE, let’s briefly describe the traditional coffee extraction systems.
1- Espresso machines (electric, digital or manual)
2- Italian Coffee Maker (known internationally as Moka)
3- Immersion coffee (French press, Ethiopian yemena, aeropress, Turkish system, etc.)
4- Filter or drip coffee (Pour Over with brands such as Melitta, Hario, Chemex, etc).
5- Cold extraction (Cold Brew) or Siphon coffee, which are immersion coffees with special characteristics.
All existing extraction systems coincide in one thing: the brewing is made from ground coffee. The caliber varies between fine, coarse or extra-coarse grind, but ground coffee is always used.
We dare to call CBE a new coffee extraction system because it extracts the coffee directly from the whole bean, without the need to grind it beforehand. We can call this a pioneering system:
6- Whole Bean Extraction or CBE, a valid acronym for “Café Barista Explorer” or “Coffee Bean Emulsionizer.”
What is the difference between CBE and Vegan Milker Mülsi?
If you already know some Vegan Milker models, CBE may at first glance look like a black Vegan Milker Mülsi. But the basic difference between the two models is not aesthetic but technical.
The side mesh of the CBE steel filter has much finer pores or holes (approx. 100µ) than those of the Vegan Milker Mülsi, which allows the extraction of coffee from ground or whole beans.
CBE allows to elaborate coffee by means of the following systems:
- Immersion (medium or coarse ground coffee)
- Cold Brew (coarse ground coffee).
- The revolutionary CBE (whole bean coffee) that provides pioneering aromas and textures of coffee, never tasted before.
- Filter coffee (medium or coarse ground coffee) using the V60 accessory included in the Premium model.
At the moment we have created 2 CBE versions. The Essence version is the one that allows us to make coffee with the first 3 systems described in the drawing.
The CBE Premium version contains an extra accessory, the V60 from the centenary Japanese company Hario. Thanks to this accessory we can also brew drip coffee (Pour Over), so much appreciated in most of Europe, Japan, South America and North America.
How the new CBE extraction system works
The CBE or Coffee Bean Emulsionizer, conceptually, works just like any Vegan Milker. What we do is include whole coffee beans among the ingredients.
How to use:
- Put 500 ml of water at 90ºC in the container.
- Add 30g of coffee beans and blend for 30 seconds.
- Let infuse for 2 minutes.
- Add the rest of the seeds and ingredients: we recommend 1 tablespoon of oat flakes, 50 grams of your favorite dried fruit, 4 dates and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
- Blend for 1 minute more until the ingredients are well crushed.
- Finish the blending process by lifting the filter over the latte to filter the liquid trapped in the pulp.
- Finally, press the pulp with a mortar and serve.
The result is an infinite variety of coffee combinations of exquisite flavors that have nothing to envy to the Starbucks combinations with the difference that they are natural and healthy. Other options can be to add vanilla essence, cinnamon, or any sweetener to taste. As an example, you can try this peanut cafè latte recipe that will help you to understand the potential of CBE.
I suggest you try this recipe before moving on to the black coffee described in the following section.
What happens if I emulsify only coffee beans with CBE?
The result is a lighter colored coffee, cloudy until it rests and with a more bitter taste than the usual black coffee obtained with ground coffee.
Thanks to the master coffee maker Marisa Baqué we have learned the importance of respecting the infusion times in the preparation of coffee. The process would be the following:
- Put 500 ml of water at 92ºC in the container.
- Add 30g of coffee beans and blend.
- Let infuse for 2 minutes before tasting.
Is it possible to make plant milks with CBE?
Of course you can! The only thing that changes in reference to Vegan Milker is the filter’s fineness , so the plant milks will be lighter if you put the disc of 0.1 (100 microns) next to the 0.3, or thicker Vegan Milker style if you put only the disc of 0.3 (300 microns) at the base.
In other words, the bottom disk sets the texture of the drink. Remember: two discs of 0.1 and 0.3 at the same time for a thinner drink, and only the 0.3 for a creamier one.
A curiosity. Perhaps you don’t know that the filter of the first Vegan Milker we manufactured 12 years ago was also 100µ. So we know that the Vegan Milker plant milk recipe Ebook and all its recipes are also valid for CBE.
Obviously, if you have a Vegan Milker, you can make CBE-style combinations with whole coffee beans and other seeds. However, ground coffee extraction systems (systems 2 and 4) will not have the same fine, sediment-free result.
Are you up for exploring the diverse world of coffee?
We make it easy for you. You already have at your disposal the launching offer we have prepared for the CBE Essence and CBE Premium models, active until May 30, 2024.
