Sedimentation is quite usual among natural vegetable drinks; this is when most of the material falls down to the bottom, and the rest of the milk is watery. This is usual with milks made from cereals. With tigernut and peanut milks, there is also sedimentation. Sedimentation is a natural process so there is nothing to worry about. It doesn´t damage the milk, and just shaking or mixing it before drinking it is enough.
If we want the milk to be homogeneous, there are some foods that can help us make the milk thicken, and also add some nutritional values to it.
You can try some of these options; each amount is for a litre of milk
- A spoonful of olive oil, sunflower oil or sesame oil
- A spoonful of sunflower seeds
- A spoonful of chia seeds or flax seeds
- Some nuts
- Natural sweeteners
Regarding sweeteners: More and more people are refusing to eat sugar and choosing alternative sweeteners, such as syrups, honey, whole unrefined sugar, stevia…
When we make a plant milk for different people that may have different habits, we recommend not to add any sweetener, and then everyone can sweeten it to their own tastes before drinking it.
But if we do know that we want the milk to be sweet, the best option is to add the sweetener at the beginning and mix it together with all of the ingredients.
Besides the mentioned sweeteners we can also use fruits, such as bananas, figs, raisins, mangos and dates. This is a nutritious way to sweeten the milk and at the same time it adds many enzymes and nutritional qualities to the milk. The peel and seeds of the fruit won´t effect the final product because they remain inside the chufamix´s filter.
Many choices for all tastes!
great thanks
